near the end of the loop i see a fairly straight and consistent foehn gap that extends 80 miles according to google maps. i wish i'd taken today off, and driven to mifflin last night!

how do I find the vertical velocity for the bay area? that's a great chart!

Default I hope someone is flying this morning in central PA...

It's definitely sphincter-clenching weather. Just watched my garbage can (half-full) fly by the back window. Peak winds at various Appalachian sites in the upper 30kts and up to 40kts on the ground. If you can survive the takeoff and landing, the rest is gravy!

Matt, the HRRR has been up for a while.

And choose SFO in the domain box, perhaps go back an hour or two in the date box, scroll way down and click max updraft loop (the second tick on the max updraft line)
Sitting at SFO right now, the sky looks stable as does that loop.

yeah now it's more extreme that it was at 9 AM. the wind is definitely blowing a little bit now... XD
