SSA Scholarship news (USA)

Our most recent Kolstad scholars (http://home.att.net/~midlk/klsthmpg.htm),
Sylvia Szafarczyk (TX) and Kevin Christner (NY), are principals in the new
US Junior Soaring Assoc. (www.juniorsoaring.us). Summer is the time to
become eligible for the college grant by doing X/C flights by the Sept. 30
application deadline, and several youth are doing just that at US Team camps
(www.ssa.org/UsTeam/ust_camps.htm). Congratulations to Lynn Haubert (TX)
for setting a 2005 Bultman award (www.soarcsa.org/ssa/ssay/byfs.htm) example
as line crew for Refugio Soaring Circle. Cadet scholarship
(www.soarcsa.org/ssa/ssay/cyfs.htm) applications are due June 30. Remember
that this is a recruiting tool for interesting non-pilot, non-SSA member
youth that visit your gliderport, so go out and invite some using the essay
contest as motivation. We do not seem to have received any Contest Entry or
Contest Training grant (www.soarcsa.org/ssa/ssay/ycom.htm#Grants)
applications, so these are still available this year. A PPT slide show
