Default Lancair 320 flight test

I will be doing the first flight and most of the flight test period on a
friend's new Lancair 320. I would appreciate hearing from others that
have done flight tests on this make and model airplane. I would also
like to have copies of your flight test cards to review before I make up
my own set.

Thanks in advance,

Rick Pellicciotti

dont spin it under 4,000 ft !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a number of fatalities have occurred in australia when low level
stalls have become spins. evidently the control forces are a bit vague
approaching the stall and it seems easy to make the mistake.

one of our fatalities was a military test pilot.

evidently spin recovery *will* take at least 3,000ft.

dont be scared of the aircraft, lots of australian owners love the
lancair, just be aware that it can be unforgiving of error around the
stall.

the previous owner of my tailwind died in a 320 at aldinga in south
australia. spun in from 800ft after takeoff. two killed.

oh btw make sure the builder hasnt made the wing totally sealed. ie he
*has* put air vent holes through it. the aforementioned 320 had a near
fatal during testing when the totally sealed wing was taken up to
service ceiling to find out what height it was. over 10,000ft and some
terrifying bangs and crunches were heard from the wing. the
delaminations were subsequently repaired but the autopsy of the later
fatal showed that two symetrical delaminations in the wing had been
missed.

Hi Rick,

I'd suggest that you visit the Lancair mailing list at
http://lancaironline.net/

Probably the most concentrated knowledge available as well as many
experienced Lancair test pilots.

Bye
