I think it's beyond dumb that you (and the other poster) would rip
on the guy for posting something completely correct here. What's the
deal?

You haven't seen me "rip" on someone. I was simply making a passing
comment.

This thread has got to be the dumbest thing to spar over in the history of
this NG.

According to the subject line, it's the "opening bid."

It is the reserve.

Yup. That is what's disturbs me. A few dumb/mean people have
made the aviation newsgroups inhospitable. Someone like the OP
saunters in and posts something *perfectly* reasonable, correct
and on-topic, and someone else has to make an ass of himself
tearing down the post.

Don't you think that you might be over reacting just a little bit.
This is a newsgroup and people will have different opinions on acceptable
advertising.

It seems real dumb to me to set an "opening bid" at $63,000 and then state
that there is no reserve.

You apparently disagree, so be it!

You may think it's a "play on words", but it's all correct. $63k is the
lowest he will take and he is displaying that right up front- what's your
problem?

Lemme see he Opening bid=$63,000, No reserve. Yep that's correct, just
like Ebay labels them. Of course you can start your own auction site and
then you can play little word games your self. If the "opening bid" is
higher than the "price police" think it should be then call it a "rip off
start" or other such label you happen to pull outa yer ass.

-- snip -- and someone else has to make an ass of himself
tearing down the post.

Agreed. There's always somebody that feels the need to express an opinion
which seems to be drug induced. It's hard to believe they actually think
that way.

The guys just trying to sell his aircraft- a beautiful one at that. Maybe
these snide remarks are from none other than jealousy. I guess it's rough to
admit to yourself that you'll never sit in the pilot seat of such a classic
bird, let alone *actually* own one!!

Oh well, Here come the flames. Bring them on!

You made a lot of assumptions, sure that you don't have a hidden agenda?

Come on now, how much is this guy paying you to say those things?

If you keep publicly attacking me I will begin to take it personally. Just
because you do not like my opinion is no reason to make these accusations.
I never "tore apart" any post, and what I said was neither dumb or mean. If
you consider that "making an ass of himself" then that reflects rather
poorly on you, sir. If such light comments make you so disturbed you have
problems beyond the scope of this discussion.

Amazing what some people read into things.

Dashi,

It's too easy to keep these guys going. We should stop...
