Default ASH 26-E Design Question

I understand that the newer production Sailplanes are lighter in
weight. My question is... what year or Production number did they
become less weight?

Not to Pry but could anybody share their thoughts about the price of a
new one with average components and a trailer. I have never purchased
a new sailplane... just curious what all the extras come to by the
time you get it home and flying.

Thanks
Steve Barnes

It's going to be hard to nail down due to the cost of Euros and also the
options you choose. When I bought mine, the Euro was at .87 for part of the
payment and around .92 for the balance. I ordered every option on the glider
and Cobra trailer I could think of, figuring I'd only be doing this once.

Options included two wing fuel tanks.
Engine bay door solar panels (Schleicher does a nicer job on these than DG,
making them flush.)
On board fueling pump
steerable tail wheel
leather upholstery
extra 18 AH battery
etc. etc.

I really prefer not to think about it, but all up, in USD, it had to be
around 1,300 standard AMU's (aircraft monetary units). Oh . . . the 26 is
worth it!
