They were pretty much phased out in 1941 which is a pretty good indicator. The Wire-Barrage Rocket Projectile was also fitted to naval vessels in the early part of the war. Most were removed when it was realised that not only were they ineffective but the poor stability of the projectiles and warheads made them a hazard to the ships on which they were mounted.
