If you plan to have your airplane painted in the future,
don't use a wax with silicone in it. It's hard to get off and even the
tiniest trace of silicone will repel the paint, resulting in "fisheye"
and making the job much more difficult, as well as heavier and more
expensive because of the extra refinishing to cover it. Been there,
done that.
Hand cleaner without the abrasive works well for getting
bugs off the leading edges. We use Fast Orange; smear it on and wipe
it off a minute or two later with wet rags. DON'T use it on older
paints; the citrus in it will damage the finish. There are now paint
strippers based on citrus oils; slow, but without the environmental
disposal hassles. We use a stripper that's based on hydrogen peroxide
and some sort of acid; rather benign and easy to use, no bad odors.
Napier Technologies make it.
