What if NK said they had some sort of nuke Doomsday Bomb capable of

like this.

Then we take our top people (especially President Merkin Muffley) and
put them away safely deep in mine shafts and try and avoid having a mine
shaft gap while Major Kong flies deeper into NK... no wait... wrong
movie... :-)

Don't bet on it.

Of course, it would take a couple of things to happen before that is
possible. The DPRK would need to start breeding a _lot_ more fuel for
reprocessing, (Which isn't an inste (re)process. The announcement by
the DPRK that they have sufficient fissionables comes at about the
right time for them to have reporocess what hey had on hand last
spring, when they announced that they were beginning to reprocess.

They'd have to get a pile of Cobalt-Thorium G. (Not available without
a prescription)

They'd also have to break their internal OMerta and actually tell
someone. To quote the Doctor: sfx: German Photographer WeeGee's
Accent
"Of course, the entire purpose of the device is lost if you keep it a
SECRET! Why didn't you tell anybody."
