I agree. Don't know about Mes News but I've used Pan (on Windows)
just because it supports yEnc natively. I got tired of OE bogging down
the old tired PII box I had; it spent its 400 MHz looking for hyperlinks!
Pan solved that easily.

Feel free to try Mes News. I'm sure you will be amazed by this soft, light
but very powerful. It can even run on an USB key! I really don't
understand why some people continue ro use OE...


They continue because their learning curve has finally flattened out and
they are comfortable with that. Can't say as I blame them. Look at me, I'm
posting with OE right now because it is familiar and because it got me
connected. My last Pan install didn't go right after I built this box and I
didn't feel like mucking around to figure out why. So its OE for now.
Couple of things I like about Pan that OE won't do besides yEnc: 1)Pan
will sort your downloads to any folder you choose. I always grabbed j3's
images and put them in a j3 folder then used the XP slideshow to view the
whole bunch. 2)Pan will download several threads at once compared to OE's
single thread. Pick your threads and their destination folders and walk
away.
