ARLINGTON, Va. — Air Force officials are asking airmen who want to get
the Air Force logo embroidered on their blue zip-front jackets to hold
off for a couple of weeks so the service can make a pattern available
to vendors.

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. John Jumper approved adding the Air
Force logo to the upper left chest on the service lightweight blue
jacket earlier this month.

The Jan. 6 Air Force announcement about the change said the service is
issuing 300 jackets for wear testing, using Maxwell Air Force Base,
Ala., as the distribution test site.

Meanwhile, airmen who wanted to have the logo right away were told
they could get local vendors to do the job, as long as they followed
guidelines, which spell out everything from typefaces to number of
stitches per inch.
