Default The US Army was a haven for Draft Dodgers

All this talk about "the Air National Guard [being] a haven for draft
dodgers" is one of the funniest ****ing contests I've heard of lately. For
example, in the mid-sixties my former brother-in-law took his "patriotic"
ass, and his just-acquired MBA, to Germany for a three year enlistment as a
Company Clerk in the Army rather than risk being drafted for two years and
possibly having to face the enemy with something more effective than a
typewriter.

A lot of us wound up on active duty as rated USAF Officers who probably
would never have donned a uniform without the draft hanging over our heads.
Some chose trash haulers out of UPT, and some earned fighters, but all
categories had their share of combat and non-combat losses.

If you GWB-haters actually want to have a useful method of evaluating a
Commander-in-Chief's legitimacy, just note the response he receives from the
troops. Few would give Clinton, or Gore, the time of day. "W" is, relatively
speaking, revered.
