Default Status of NPR for increased currency requirements

Does anyone know what happened to the FAA's proposal to increase the
requirements for instrument currency to include departure procedures
etc? Is the FAA still pursuing this?

Rumors are somewhere between dead in the water to expect them in 2009.
I haven't heard anything definitive. The comments were roundly
negative. The Army seemed to also have issue with some of the
NVG rules in the same rulemaking.
