Sadly, I have to agree with you. It's far better than seeing it scrapped but
hard to believe that some entrepenuers wouldn't front up the money to see it
restored. Easy to say when I'm not one of them

Entrepeneurs often would like to see some profit from their enterprises.
Restoring (and flying, keeping airworthy) an old bird rarely brings
money.

It costs.

HEAPS!!

So you'd be needing a few guys with lots of money to spend or a WHOLE
bunch of volunteers who spend their time and money to keep the thing up

If these things are not available, the thing don't fly.

What I don't get is why gouvernments don't do much more to save ones
countries heritage.

Governments exist to serve interest groups
(teachers, the elderly, paving contractors, police)
that are all braying for more money. Historical
preservation is pretty far down on the list, sadly.
