I got semi-quoted the following (more specific quote will come later
and I[m sure will be a bit more)

unit $5800
indicator $1450
labor $4500
XM receiver $3600 + labor (optional)

This is in a Mooney to replace a MX-170B (which I"m told is the same
size so no need to move other radios around).

Does this sound reasonable for Californoa

Seems a little high, but maybe not for the left coast.

Here in Indiana our 430 nav/com, 340 audio and 106a indicator was right
around 10 AMU's.

I found this place in CA for $8499 installed just for the 430. Might be
more fo the Mooney:

I think the $8499 does not include the indicator, which is another
$1500

I know.... that is why I said "just for the 430". :-) It might be
worth a call to Tim Matheson at Gamn Aviation in Lafayette GA for a
quote (706-638-7921).

As you know from your participation in the Mooney List's he is an expert
at Mooney installs and comes highly recommended. It would be a long
flight for you but if he saves you several AMU's it might be worth it.
He saved us around 4 AMU's for our STEC install last year.
