Default Choices continued; Another great moderated pilots forum

For those interested in additional alternatives to Usenet, I have
already mentioned the Pilots of America forum and a lot of you have
checked in there.
Another great moderated forum for pilots interested in friendly,
educational, and serious aviation discussion is the "Purple Forums".
The links for Pilots of America and purple Forums are listed below.

Please note it is not my intention to destroy this forum by posting this
information. These are simply non profit moderated alternatives where
serious pilots, students, and those interested in aviation generally
have gathered to enjoy each other's company and exchange useful
information in a venue a bit different than what is happening here on
Usenet.

By all means make your own choices.
Possibly reading what will most likely appear under this post might help
some of you with making that choice :-))

Best to all here;
Dudley Henriques

A choice of forums is a good thing, not a bad thing. Informing others of
alternatives is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Dudley, I can't think of an example in the past when you have given me reason
to doubt your veracity, but I certainly do this time (even though I am sure that
you would like to believe what you say above is true).

The world does not need more Internet forums and certainly no more blogs.
Fracturing any group into smaller fragments, each led by some "big kahuna"
moderator, leads to a tragic inbreeding of ideas. It is far better to simply
outwait the trolls.

(My opinion, respectfully presented).

Vaughn

I would agree with you generally speaking from my own experience with
moderated forums, and if the two forums I've recommended to this group
turn out to have a "big Kahuna" in charge who dominates the forum, I
swear to you that I will be the first one back here to say publicly I
was totally mistaken.

These two forums I have mentioned seem to be extremely well run and
controlled by very nice, involved in aviation at the ground root level,
people; in one case, a very nice family. These people have put up the
forum as a public service to aviation and as far as I can determine, are
anything but "Big Kahunas".
I'll admit I have limited experience with both forums thus far, but I'll
tell you this much; I have received several dozen under postings at both
forums, including a warm welcome from the administrators themselves and
not one post even close to being negative. Everyone there seems happy to
be there and simply interested in friendly and serious dialog exchange.
Nobody seems threatening, bullyish, or threatened, and most of all, eem
only interested in the quality of the information passed back and forth.

My personal impression is that the moderators would much rather leave
the "moderating" to the forum members through encouragement rather than
some "Big Kahuna" discipline.

Why don't you come on over and lurk a bit and see for yourself. Nothing
ventured, nothing gained. That's how I found these two forums, simply by
accident.
