Default Remote Switch for Pointer ELT --- Why Does It Need Voltage?

The remote switch wiring diagram for the Pointer ELT shows a lead running to
the aircraft's 12V power supply. Why's that? The switch on the unit
itself doesn't require a connection to the aircraft's power supply. TIA.

I believe there is a pilot light on the switch, which requires 12
volts.PN 2019-10 is listed as a "remote switch/monitor kit"
