Default Cloud Flying

Brain...

It does not...nowhere in the FAR.

But, you must have the following rating to fly IFR/IMC
in a sailplane:

PVT or higher airplane
Instrument rating Airplane, either ASE or AME or ATP
Airplane, again ASE or AME

The currency requirements are for carrying passengers
only...

But again, I STRESS!!!!!! Be current & proficient,
not just having the rating. Trust me! There is a large
difference thermalling under a strong Cu..at 6-12 kts
and transition into the cloud IMC...you must have your
head right! Gyro instruments are needed....especially
an attitude indicator.

2 methods can be used, the straight thermal transition
or the seek & go method. Usually the seek & go is used
on a very large Cu....this method is the best to deal
with icing.

Drop a note..

Shawn
