Default CAA report: The Next Steps in Mode S Implementation

An e-mail was just distributed to those who filed a response to the
CAA, with the following link regarding implementation of Mode S in the
United Kingdom.

http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/810/Mode_S_June07_A4.pdf

One paragraph of interest is:

Gliders would remain exempt from Article 20 (2) of Schedule 5 of the
Air Navigation Order
which details the radio equipment that aircraft are required to carry.

We should all monitor this and provide feedback, as it will first
effect glider flying in Britain, then spread elsewhere.
Jim
