MOVE OVER AESOP, WE'VE GOT FLIGHT 93
Exactly 10 years ago -- probably within a few minutes of this being posted -- one of the greatest myths in aviation history took root when a jet airliner crashed into a field in rural Western Pennsylvania. It is the tale of "Let's Roll," the mysterious Flight 93. In my opinion it's the greatest fiction story ever written, better even than Aesop and any of his Fairy Tales. Aesop, a slave and story-teller supposedly lived in ancient Greece between 620 and 560 BC. His fables remain a popular choice for moral education of children today. Apollonius of Tyana, a 1st century philosopher, was recorded as having written this about Aesop: "Like those who dine well off the plainest dishes, Aesop made use of humble incidents to teach great truths. And after serving up a story, he added to it the advice to do a thing or not to do it. Then, too, he was really more attached to truth than the poets are; for the latter do violence to their own stories in order to make them probable, But he (Aesop). by announcing a story which everyone knows NOT TO BE TRUE, told the truth by the very fact that he did not claim to be relating real events." Well, that's enough of Aesop. What about the two planes that struck the twin towers? The ones we saw on television with our own eyes. Is that a great fiction story too, or did that really happen?
