Default Chicago Area Glider Seminar Feb 16

The ChicagoLand Glider Council is hosting the 5th semi-annual Midwest
Soaring and Safety Seminar on Saturday, February 16th, 2013, 8AM to
5PM. Nationally known speakers will cover topics of safety, medicine,
racing, competition, gear and gliders.

The cost of this Seminar is being partially underwritten by the
ChicagoLand Glider Council's membership to keep the cost reasonable
and to allow as many pilots as possible to attend. Breakfast, lunch
and snacks are provided.

The ChicagoLand Glider Council is a non-profit organization of over
200 members which was formed in 1937 and has a long history of
dedication to the advancement and safety of soaring flight. The
Council hosts off-season (October through April) meetings with
scheduled speakers at a local venue. The Council also provides youth
grants and helps underwrite local soaring events.

See http://www.chicagolandglidercouncil.com/seminar/ for full details
and registration.

Thanks,
John DeRosa
Secretary, ChicagoLand Glider Council

Disappointed there was no acceptance of Frank Whiteley’s offer to webcast this event. I would gladly pay full fare for a webcast.

I am a sole proprietor.
To get from SEA to ORD for an 0800 event means:
a. Work Friday and do the redeye bit and hoping no winter storm!

b. Cancelling Friday – btw this means no income whatsoever –
taking a Friday flight from SEA to ORD and hoping no winter storm!

If one goal was “to allow as many pilots as possible to attend” it seems to me
that goal could have been achieved via webcast.

I note “But seats are still available!” Q.E.D.
Hard to feel "lucky" about this.

In the same boat. I usually work weekends but actually have this day off. Would have to fly in night before and stay till Sunday AM for flt home. SLC glider seminar was webcast. Don't understand why this could not be done again. What about a podcast?
