Default How is the Winter soaring in S. UT, S. NV, and N. AZ?

Looks like the daytime/nightime temp span is statistically even better than the
imfamous Phoenix and parts of FL.

Anyone had experience in Dec, Jan, Feb in this tri-states corner of the
country?

Michael..winter soaring can be interesting.. mostly ridge/wave.. not much
for thermals.. what thermals there are don't get high enough for cross
country.. it's a long way between suitable landout areas.. there is not a
runway every 10 miles or even a lake bed.. (field) to land on..

I have done thermal soaring on Jan1st.. but always stayed within reach of
the airport.. the winter winds can shear the thermals off very quickly..

up in the Minden area.. they will either tow to wave.. or thermal up to the
wave.. it depends on the weather system..
