Default Special prop to increase manifold pressure

Hi Folks!

Was there ever a prop modified with a trailing edge bump for the purpose of
increasing MP at the ram air inlet?

Faint memory is maybe Lopresti marketed a Hartzerll with a trailing edge
tab.

Thanks
Kent Felkins

I think Lopresti makes one for the Comanche or Twin Comanche. It might
"come with" a cowling.

Kent,

I recall that this was available on certain Mooneys. An STC search
might turn up more clues.

Happy Flying!

"Holy cowl" or some such nonsens, I believe. Not sure I buy much performance
increase, but then again even 1/2" MP would be noticable

You're memory may be faint, but it working! The prop is a Hartzell
with a trailing edge tab, specifically design to work with the air
inlet on LoPresti's Wholey Cowl (Comanche). They call it a
Sychro-Pulse prop.

Here's a URL :

I remember that prop, but don't think it was for a MP increase.. I think it
was to slam more cooling air into the cowling..

From the website :

"On planes with the Wholey Cowl the SynchroPulse Flaps Increase
Manifold Pressure By Forcing Air Into The Engine Induction System -
It's Like
FREE SUPERCHARGING! "

The cowl is built so that the round intake hole is right behind the
tab in the prop.
