According to today's AvWeb's article for today, it seems that our old
paper licenses are going to no longer be valid in a couple of years...
Just as well -- they sucked for scraping frost off the inside of a
windshield anyway...

I wonder if anyone is still flying around on a certificate signed by
Orville.

I wonder if we're going to be charged for these new licenses that are
now mandated.

What a racket. I wish I could pass some laws that force people to pay
me.

You can pass all the laws you want. Good luck enforcing them, though.

Eh, the CFI certificate is good for only two years anyway, so pretty much all
the active CFIs have plastic certificates anyway. And I had to replace the
pilot certificate when I got my pocket picked in the Philippines.

If I had had a certificate signed by Orville, I would have lost it within a
year or two anyway. I move around too much and keep adding ratings. Jeppesen
had a certificate signed by Orville, but he must have been one of the last.

It was free a few years ago....as long as you are changing from your SS# to
an assigned certificate number.
