Default Junkers 88 in New Zealand?

Can anyone provide any information on a Finnish JU-88 which was
supposedly recovered from an unkown lake some 100 km south of
Leningrad (these days St Petersburg)in Russia in the 90's and now
resides somewhere in New Zealand?
The plane apparently ditched in late 1944.

Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Ian

Could this be a corruption of the story of the Finnish Brewster 239 serialed BW
372 that was recovered from Russia in the late 90's and now resides in storage
in Ireland? Can you give a source for the Ju 88 story?

Hi all

There is no Junkers 88 in N.Z. and the said Ju is in fact still
sitting in the lake at an unknown location south of St.Petersburg .
Aircraft is Ju88A-4 8785 , JK-260 of the Finnish AF which managed to
bomb its own base before running out of fuel and ditching ;-0 . A now
defunct Finnish Museum had plans to recover it ..but that is a long
and ultimately unsuccessful story !
If you are interested in known survivors get yourself a copy of
'Classic Wings' Vol.8 No.2

regards
Dave McDonald
