A-10 Slats

I notice the A-10 slats are only on the inboard wing panels. Their placement
makes me think they aren't used for stall control so would they be only used
for take off or landing? Or both?

I may be a bit off, but as I remember it, the original non-slat
configuration would feed rough air from the wing root to the engines
at high angles of attack. The slats smooth it out a bit, giving the
engines a bit more margin.
