Your free AvGas fillup at Dodge Center MN (TOB) July Sunday 31, AM by
abripl
Hi,
Just returned from Oshkosh home to Pierre SD. I filled up at Dodge
Center MN this AM and not being familiar with the self serve gas
fillup, I did not hang up the pump handle properly. Somebody after me
continued pumping another $150 on my credit card ($200 instead of about
$50). My...

Connecticut considers "booting" aircraft by
Kent Ashton
After a drunk 20-year old stole a Cessna for a joyride, the Governor of
Connecticut says he will consider installing "boots" on all aircraft to
prevent theft.
Connecticut: taking the lead on transportation security.

Tailwheels on ebay by
Victor Bravo
My four tailwheel unit auctions on ebay have not even reached half of
the new prices of tailwheels. It seems that you can get a great deal
and save hundreds off the new replacement cost. If you can machine the
bronze oilite bushings on a home lathe, you can restore three Maule
tailwheels, sell two,...

EGT by
dwoolery
This past Sunday seemed like a good day to test run the V6 and see how
it cooled on a day forecast to be over 100 degrees. The coolant
temperatures and pressures were OK (195 @7#, oil temp 210). This was
the first time I measured the exhaust gas temperature. Ranged from
1275 to 1500 degrees F. ...

Metallic paint and composite antenna signal strength by
firstflight
Will a metallic paint interfere with the strength of signal with impeded
antennas in a composite airplane? I have a small transponder antenna and a
Comm antenna bonded to the inside of the fuselage. Will a metallic paint
and the presence of aluminum chips screw up the strength of signal in...

Does it have to WHITE!!! by
firstflight
I have a composite kit aircraft, and it is time to paint! But I just hate
the idea of painting it WHITE (like most all the others). I understand that
HEAT is a big factor in this decision, and that white attracts the least
amount of heat which could disrupt the Epoxy over time. Since my plane...

Muzzleloader sample by
Rich S.
Hey Chuck. . .
Linda axed me to give you her regrets that she isn't coming with me to
Oshkosh this year. She also wondered if I could bring back a sample of
Muzzleloader so she could toast you in absentia. Shall I bring a specimen
cup? She said the berry is her favorite.

Sport Pilot license by
keepitrunning
Has anyone come up with an estimated cost of a sport pilot license versus a
regular pilot's license. Then would it be reasonable to add the
requirements for a pilot's license later?
Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Oshkosh for a day by
Nathan Young
If I was going to try to fly to OSH and back for a day this coming
week - what is the best day to attempt?
I know the aircraft parking gets full quickly, and the flying hours
are restricted by the airshow.
Thoughts?

Listening to ATC at Oshkosh by
Chief McGee
I hear they are having a little fly-in at Oshkosh next week. Is there a way
to listen to ATC over the net. Could not find any info on the EAA site.
Thanks

Installing a wood prop... by
SteveR
Tonight I'm going to install a prop on my plane (Pietenpol with a Continental A-75) and go up for a quick flight. I've never done a prop install before, so I want to make sure I get it right.
I figured I'll torque the bolts, run the plane for 10-15 minutes on the ground, check the torque, take it...

Noise reduction by
David Findlay
I'm in the early stages of the homebuilding disease :-P and still don't
know exactly what I want to build, just that I want to build something.
I'm interested to know what people have done in their aircraft to reduce
the interior noise level? Can such noise insulation be added to plan or
kit built...

RAP & RAH Oshkosh field frequency by
RST Engineering
I think we could coexist with Vette on 123.3 with handhelds on the field
during Oshkosh, but I just did a fairly detailed search for 123.5 and found
no takers within twenty miles.
THEREFORE, let's make that rah/rap on field coordination frequency 123.5 and
don't give your kids the transceiver to...
