On buying a "used" kit (Avid Flyer) by
Paul Gifford
Hi,
I have the opportunity to purchase an Avid Flyer Mark IV (STOL wings,
taildragger) at a very attractive price. It's been worked on over the years
by 2 different builders. Wings aren't attached, tanks aren't yet in the
wings. Can anyone offer advice on what to look for to assess its...

Zenith CH 601 vs. CH 701, better? by
DL152279546231
I am thinking about building either a Zenith CH 601 or CH 701.Initially I was
only looking at the 701 because of looks, its STOL capability, its high wing,
because of its squared off design I believe it should be easier to build.
Drawbacks of the 701 range and fuel consumption, increased drag....

Another angle... by
tongaloa
I'm the guy who is looking for a solution for Pacific travel.
You know, 2500nm 'hops'.
If I give some on the 205kt cruise, what sort of suggestions for
a single, with this sort of range, that only has to tote 250lb(pilot/gear).
Grob with extara tanks will do it, but 25-30 hours is grueling in...

Modifying Vision plans for retractable gear... by
Chris
Dear All:
I am researching various options for a homebuilt aircraft. I am
located in Thailand, and over here labor is significantly more
obtainable than money, so cost is definitely a primary concern. Build
time can always be compensated for by enlisting help. Based on what I
want, it appears that...

Musings of a Commercial Helicopter Pilot by
Badwater Bill
I wrote this on May 8,2002 and posted it on the rotorcraft group. I
just got an email this morning from a helicopter pilot who thinks he
wrote it. It was changed a bit, but essentially the same. Here it
is.
BWB
I think I'm about to retire from flying helicopters. It was fun for
the last 30...

Looking for small header tank by
Rob Turk
I'm looking for a small (5-10 liter, 1-2 Gallon) header tank, to attach two
wing tanks, a feed and a return line. Anyone know a good source in Europe
(the Netherlands) who makes/sells these?
Thanks,
Rob

500 x5 Wheels, Tires and Brakes by
HankL
I think I have a set in my hanger. The dirt dobbers have done a number on
them. If they clean
up - will contact you. I paid $100 at fly in and would like my money back if
they are good. Were
originally purchased for a B-D 5. If you are interested, will look in the
next few days. Please respond

3 blade prop position on 6cyl engine. by
Paul Lee
Whats the best 3 blade prop position on a 6 Cyl Franklin?
The Ivo prop instructions only give an example for a 4 cyl
IO-360 to place one blade on TDC position. That's where
I placed it for the 6 cyl Franklin for now.

Flight test update by
nauga
Wish I had more news, but I did make two more (brief)
flights yesterday. Flight #2 was about 0.5, first
time out of the pattern. I've put a trim tab on
the rudder (I love duct tape), and that helped
quite a bit. Still, having to hold right rudder,
thin shoes, and a cold day, and my right...
