Ask my wife who one day tried to shop online at Williams-Sonoma by typing
in what she thought was the web site name. It took me a day or two of
scrubbing to remove all the filth left behind by the unscrupulous site.

Do a web-search using the words "favorites hijacking" or "homepage
hijacking" and you will find out how to configure your IE to prevent it. I
removed a program to stop it after somebody here typed whitehouse.com
instead of whitehouse.gov.
