That's smart marketing Jay and your not the only person in the world
who practices that sort of newsgroup marketing.
But please don't be arrogant and play dumb that some people in those
groups don't truly understand what your ulterior motives are.
"Ulterior"? That's a fairly strong statement with no basis in presented
fact. Jay contributes here, unlike some other people. His posts have
sufficient utility that they're seen. More, his posts generate non-flaming
replies, further demonstrating the utility of those posts.
Can you say the same?
Jay's signatures are aviation-related, but there's no mandate for this. A
signature can be whatever the user wants. As Jay is following the standard
for such things, anyone motivated to tell their newsreader to ignore
signatures would never see it.
Just the other day you started posting text messages with links in the
aviation binary newsgroup regarding your new multi-media clips. That's
not a multi-media newsgroup and the regulars there want to see
contributors POSTING pictures not posting links to a commercial site
for an aviation themed hotel.
Oh my God...Jay is saving bandwidth by posting links instead of entire
binaries? What is the world coming too? Doesn't he realize that he pays
for the "link" bandwidth, while he'd be using other people's bandwidth if
he posted the entire file?
Jay, what type of weird-o are you, failing to freeload on the USENET
infrastructure?
