The images appear to be badly over-exposed, as you noticed. I would suggest
bracketing your exposures for better results. Don't think that the pictures
are ruined, though. You can correct for a lot with a good photo editor. You
might also consider using a longer lens. This will narrow the field of view
and help keep the wing out of the picture. It also helps to slip the
airplane a little so that the wing is moved further back out of the picture.

I think with some cropping, exposure and color balance adjustment you just
might have some pretty good pictures there. Looking forward to the next
batch.
