before you grow up, go all the way through pilot training, and become an
airline transport pilot.

Typically it doesn't work that way for most people and most people
don't understand allergies.

My allergist tells me: People develop allergies. They may have them as
youngsters and out grow them and people who have never been allergic
to anything may develop them later in life.

Allergies can just suddenly appear without warning or they may slowly
develop. Like lightening they are unpredictable.

I'm allergic to mold, a number of pollens, dust, eggs and aspartame.
Eggs are probably the worst. That makes getting a flu shot time
consuming and expensive.

I used to eat two stacks of pancakes, 4 eggs, 4 slices of toast, plus
enough jam to cover what toast wasn't needed to soak up the eggs for
breakfast.

Why not ban peanuts too, in case you've grown up in another galaxy till the
minute Northwest hired you and offered you a bag of snacks that'll turn out to
kill you?

Honestly. A pilot reckless enough to take control and slam a diet Coke knowing
he has a disabling allergy to the sweetener will have disqualified himself from
professional employment a long time before he slugs down a beverage that'll
knock him out in the cockpit.

When it comes to allergies he/she may have never had an allergy
reaction before. Be that as it may, I see no reason to ban aspartame,
peanuts, Soy products, or eggs...course I've never found an airline
serving eggs.

I guess they'll just have to serve every one a concentrated capsule of
Metamucile(sp?) and a glass of water. At least you'd be full. :-))
