Ain't it just wonderful how we can just call total strangers whom we do
not know names and feel real good about ourselves.

At the very least, Jim can accurately determine that you are acting
foolishly. Granted, all of us act foolish, even though some of us are not
fools. But when you act foolishly in a way that negatively affects all of
the rest of us, you sure do open yourself to simply being labeled a fool.

Do you just walk
up to them at the airport and compliment them in the same way?

I've at least twice had people walk up to me at an airport and "compliment"
me in a similar way, and one of those times they had a legitimate beef. In
that instance, I apologized profusely for blasting their hangar with my prop
wash. In the second instance, I enjoyed taking the moment to point out how
dumb the person yelling at me was being (and that shut them up pretty good).

Bottom line: if someone criticizes you legitimately, you ought to be willing
to take a moment to consider the criticism as being helpful, no matter how
offensively you think it was put (and frankly, Jim's post was hardly a major
assault).
