It is a sad time for the sport helicopter community. BJ was the
father of the modern sport helicopter movement. His early single seat
Scorpion was the first kit built helicopter that could actually fly.
From there, the rest is history. I never met BJ, but I am really
sadened that now I won't have the chance.

Rumors about the crash suggest that BJ had a heart attack while flying
his helicycle after filming a promotional video about it. One has to
wonder if he would have survived if he had come down on dry land
rather than in water. I suspect that more details will come out about
the crash as time goes on.

My condolances to BJ's family.
