If memory serves me correctly there is some magic number of tail wheel 
hours at around 60. You may find the rate drops "a bit" after that. 
You are not doing anything wrong ... you simply need to accumulate 
lots of tail dragger hours and the rates will come down a bit. 
 
One thing you could try to lower your rate a bit is to raise your 
deductable to say $10,000. That is usually good for a $500 or so 
reduction in your yearly rates.

  I just got a quote for $3300 per year on a 7ECA!!! (from Falcon)  I have 
  250 hours and 50 tailwheel.  What am I doing wrong? 
 
 Wow.  Two years ago I was paying about 1/2 of that for my 7GCAA 
 through Avemco.  Did they have any reason for what seems like a pretty 
 steep rate?
