you're quite welcome..........I've had many variometers apart in the past
just to see what each is made like and most are quite simple to open and
examine.the CVS40/50 types are actually very easy.there should be (if they
haven't fallen out) 3 self taping screws in the rear of the case.just remove
these and the guts will all come out from the rear.....actually, replacing
the case with glass intact is the easiest way to fix yours if the glass is
not free the from the case.....just let me know if you need this one

Great offer. Ours must be a CVS40, since it's calibrated in knots.
It has been working just fine, except that the cracked glass has been
pushed in and has pinned the needle to the backing. The cracks have
also become so extensive as to make it almost impossible to read.
I'm going to just double check that we can get the front glass off
without removing ithe vario completely, then I'd be happy to take you
up on your offer.
