Default What's a radio stack really cost?

We've got an MX-20 in one of our planes, and personally I don't get
much use out of it. The graphics update is way to slow for the moving
map. If they came out with a faster version, it might be more
attractive.

Can anyone address the refresh rate differences between the MX-20 and
the GMX-200 ?

In August I had a gma340, gtx330, mx-20 and gdl69a put in. Installed cost
was $20,000. I like the mx-20, since I already had a gnc300xl I didn't need
a gps but I did need a better display as well as somewhere to display
traffic and weather. The mx-20 fit the bill for me. The screen refresh
draws are fine when you are just tracking but when you change screens it is
slow. It doesn't make it unusable but more speed would be nice. The
Avidyne ex500 was much faster (I saw it demo'd at aopa) but it didn't
interface with the gdl 90 which I was considering and didn't display tafs.
That might have changed and for the money I thought it was a better box
except for the 2 items I mentioned.

The new Garmin mx-200 is supposed to be one and a half times faster.
