Default HID Lighting

Were these STC's installations, or did you need to get a field approval?
I've been waiting six months for the STC to get signed by the FAA regional
office in Chicago. Since the wing lights are the same for a lot of already
approved Beech products, it is amazing how long it is taking them to sign
the paperwork (for a Baron).

If the field approval wasn't too bad, I may decide to go that route rather
than wait for the STC.

I installed the RMD HID kits (same as those sold by Knots2U I believe)
under a field approval on my Skylane a couple of years ago.

It was not difficult at all to secure said approval, using the existing
STC as the basis for the approval. The STC is for installing these kids
on their wingtips, I wanted to install them on the bose bowl to replace
the 4509's that burnt out so easily.

I couldn't be more pleased with the results. They use 1/3 of the power
of a 4509 and they put out a very bright, very white light. I installed
the kits myself, with inspection, approval and 337 submission by an
owner friendly A&P/IA.
