Some do. The demand was a multirole feighter for short strips or
motorway strips, in case the airfields became destroyed.
This is a cold war design to be operated within closest range to combat
zone (eg. cold war Germany).

Thinking about it, I shouldn't know why these jets should NOT have thrust
reversers.

On more system to raise costs per unit, one more system to maintain, one
more system to fail, and so on...
