The drive to keep our training areas clean meant that whenever we deployed,
starting in the late 1980s, we had to bring drip-pans to the weeds. A truly
astonishing number got driven over and it was a cost the unit ate, because
to discipline the drivers or detachment commanders over such things would
mean they would be left in the truck and oil would be all over the show.
