If you order the "Limited Edition DVD there is an explanation about the
problem of Technicolor and the conversion process and digital process.

I didn't even bother to watch the Tom Cruise version. A couple of my
friends saw it and were all a twitter about the FX. George Pal still
wins that bet with me.

They also described how the Christian Minister part was virtually
eliminated, which I always thought was a powerful vignette about which
reflected the battle between "godless communism and god-is-on-our-side
USA values".
