Air Force Academy Review Panel Sets Second Public Meeting
(EXCERPT) PRESS ADVISORY from the United States Department of Defense No. PRESS ADVISORY Jul 08, 2003 Jul 08, 2003 The panel established to review sexual misconduct allegations at the United States Air Force Academy will conduct its second public meeting Friday, July 11, 8 a.m. to noon MDT, in Colorado Springs, Colo. The hearing will be held in the Colorado Springs City Hall, 107 N. Nevada St. (corner of Kiowa and Nevada,), 3rd floor, and is open for media coverage. Three separate hearings are scheduled: + Hearing 1 Former Air Force Academy Leadership Lt. Gen. John D. Dallager, former Superintendent; Brig. Gen. S. Taco Gilbert III, former Commandant of Cadets; and Col. Sue Slavec, former Training Group Commander. + Hearing 2 Victim and Witness Services Representatives Jennifer Bier, Trust Education Safety Support Action (TESSA) group, 1997-2003; Janet Kerr, formerly with TESSA for 17 years; Retired Lt. Col. Alma Guzman, Air Force Academy Cadet Counseling Center; and Lt. Col. Robert J. Jackson, former Air Force Academy Chief of Sexual Assault Services. + Hearing 3 Current Air Force Academy Leadership Lt. Gen. John Rosa, Superintendent; Brig. Gen. Johnny Weida, Commandant of Cadets; and Col. Debra Gray, Vice Commandant of Cadets. The media point of contact is Glenn Flood, (703) 695-6294, or (719) 473-5600. The panel, chaired by former Florida congresswoman Tillie K. Fowler, is conducting a study of the policies, management and organizational practices and cultural elements of the Academy that may have been conducive to alleged sexual misconduct, including sexual assaults and rape.
