Flying into KSAN by
Ron Garret
I'm picking up a passenger in San Diego, and KSAN is the closest field.
Is it a big deal to land there? Is it GA friendly? Do I need to make
any advance arrangements?

Looking for an earlier post -- help! by
AJ
Maybe about a year ago there was a post of humorous flying rules that
were compiled during WWII. If anyone knows this post (I apologize for
the vagueness of this request), please tell me the Subject name so I
can look it up.
Thank you kindly!

Franklin engine parts availability? by
soaringpilot2
Hi to all,
I'm curious if anyone has first hand experience with keeping Franklin
engines running? I'm curious about a couple of homebuilts on
barnstormers that are for sale, and I see that some Maule's have them
as well (which a friend of mine in interested in buying) and was
curious if parts are...

Scaled Composites Space Tourism Firm Fined Over Deaths by
Larry Dighera
$25,870 seems like a paltry slap on the wrist for three deaths, but I
suppose the victims' families will likely demand substantially more.

The subject of checklist use has come up in another thread and I thought it
deserved its own.
I was recently told that the compulsory use of written checklists originated
with the introduction of the B17 which was experiencing a high degree of
incidents caused by procedural deviations. It was...

Hydralics vurnability by design. by
[email protected]
When I read about Japan Airlines Flight 123 (Boeing 747-SR46) that crashed due
a bad repair of the rear pressure bulkhead. And the subsequent rupture of ALL
hydralic pipes. It makes me wonder WHY are airplanes designed with this
single-point-of-failure?
Seems a lot of crashs could been avoided if...

Phrase "landing runway" vs. "cleared to land" by
Robert M. Gary
Today I was shooting approaches at MHR. Wx was 001OVC 1/8SM. When I
got handed off to tower they would say "Mooney 1234, not in site,
landing own risk, landing runway 22L". That doesn't sound like a
landing clearance to me. What does "landing runway 22L" mean in the
tower ATC phrase book? Why would...

Headset Misfortunes by

We've had a string of headset misfortunes.
First, my Lightspeeds started acting up (some sort of ANR problem - more of
an annoyance than anything), so they went back to Lightspeed for a fix.
When they came back, the ANR was working, but the headset volume was so low
the headsets were not...

Does part 91 apply outside the USA? by
Barry
Now let's take 91.175. The USA mandates the use of a published IAP.
The UK does not. 91.1 says p91 does not apply outside the USA. Does
this mean one can fly an unpublished IAP in the UK?
I don't see anything in 91.1 saying that it does not apply outside the US.
It says that it...
