340,000 Pilots Needed For The Next 20 Years? by
Larry Dighera
Boeing alleges that 340,000 pilots will be needed to fill the seats of
the aircraft currently on order. No wonder they want to take over our
nation's ATC system:

Do you have to solo to get current? by
Skidder
As we all know, you can't carry a passenger unless you are current. But if
two pilots get in an aircraft with dual controls, can either of them really
be considered a passenger? You can log PIC from either seat.
Lets say, I have a PPL but am not current. My best friend has a PPL but is
not...

Identifying a closed airport by

Question for everyone, and it's a long shot, but I'll try
anyway!
I just happen to have Google Earth fired up and was looking at
my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. I scrolled up a bit north of my
parent's place, and happened to notice an airstrip...

Garmin Aviation Program on PC by
Danny Deger
I just bought a Garmin 96 GPS. I have loaded the Garmin Mapsource software
to my PC, but can't find any aviation data in it. All I see are town,
roads, etc. Any ideas how to do aviation planning on my PC and download to
my handheld?

Chicago: Any consequences of closing Meigs? by
Neil Gould
Hi all,
Two airports in our area are under "attack" by groups that would rather
not have air traffic in their new developments built beside the existing
airport or the airport taking up space in the downtown lakefront area.
While I can see many reasons why this is short-term thinking that...

User Fees Will Tripple Piston-Engine Operating Costs by
Larry Dighera
AOPA CRUNCHES THE NUMBERS FOR FAA FUNDING PLAN
Staffers at AOPA have been sorting through the FAA's funding
proposal to figure out exactly what all the proposed changes would
cost. They've found that if the FAA gets its way, fliers of
piston-engine aircraft would see their fees increase $100...

Our First Family Flight by
Grumman 46U
It was clear and cool Sunday, and the time had come to introduce my
wife to the joys of Grumman 46U. She had endured the search, the
accompanying disappointments, the phone calls from faraway places,
then had met me at the hangar upon my return with our standard poodle,
a bottle of champagne and...

Good BFR after 8 years by
Danny Deger
I stopped flying 8 years ago and am ready to get back into it. I took my
BFR yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that my flying skills were still
intact. I thought I would need a couple of hours dual, but pulled off the
BFR in 1.0 flight time.
Now all I need is for the weather in New York...
