Discovery Wings Channel ??? by

Whatever happened to the EAA shows that were aired on Speedvision?
Was "Fom The Ground Up" shown on that channel? Seems like the EAA
could provide some programming. I always wanted a channel that would
just drive up and down the rows at Oshkosh, no commentary...

Apollo 618 antenna by
JFLEISC
The 618 in my wife's plane just stopped receiving signals. (the SNR screen
reads all '0's). Checked continuity to the antenna and it's OK. Is it possible
that those antennas could just quit? If the 618 itself quit its not worth
fixing, but it had always made a good backup.

Flaperons by
Lou Parker
I just don't get it. Can anyone successfully explain how flaperons
work? Are they better or worse than seperate flaps? What are the pro's
and con's? It seems to me if one fails you have no recovery.

Homebuilt Airplane Crash by
Harry O
This was in the newspaper today. No information on the airplane, but it was
supposed to be a homebuilt. I have heard it was a BD-4, but no
confirmation. I used to fly out of the North Omaha Airport. It is
relatively short (2,500 feet from memory) with high trees off the south end.
The north end...

Carb heat specs? by
Rich S.
Will someone please point me to the specification for effective carburetor
heat? A friend is in the midst of his flight testing and asked me how one
determines if the carb heat is working properly. All's I know is that if the
rpm drops a hunnert or so on run-up, you say, "Check" and take off.

Need One More Day Northern California Exhibition by
Jim Weir
In California, you have to display your aircraft 12 days a year to be eligible
for a "historical aircraft" tax exemption. The 12 days have to be at a
recognized and publicized event (i.e. you can't just open up your hangar and
hang a sign on the prop).
I'm one day short and need a one-day event,...

The faster a good oil film gets established on the cam, the less chance
there is of lifter damage. Anything under 60 degrees carries some risk.
We preheat below 40. A single cold start when...

Adventure Air Amphibian accident by
Ed Baker
A close friend of mine died in an Adventure Air amphibian crash at
North Central airport in RI. The accident date was Oct 29, 2004.
After spending close to 11 years building it, he perished on his third
flight in just over a week of testing it.
Myself, and many others, in my local EAA chapter...

Big chunk of 4130 -- source needed by

I'm looking for a piece of 4130 normalized that's 2" thick by 6.5" wide by

Express, Metal Supermarkets, and a few other -- no luck. My project
(crankshaft) is fairly specific as to alloy and treatment. Any...

There is nothing wrong with endorsing one candidate or another, that is
