Tiedown Stakes (Article in SportAv.) by
Jim Weir
Sport Aviation (EAA Magazine), April issue, pages 110-112.
The article shows a system of metal rod-stakes and the 3-part chain with the
repair link in the middle. The article goes into some detail on how to make a
3-part chain with a repair link (pretty trivial to figure that out) but...

Foil Antenna on Carbon Fiber by
Dennis Mountains
I'm building a carbon fiber airplane and understand that the carbon is too
opaque to radio signals to use antennas inside the carbon. (The wing tips
are E-Glass and come with navigation antennas already installed.) For
communication, marker beacon, and transponder antennas, I'm wondering why...

FAR rules on "ground-effect" vehicles? by
Wright1902Glider
Does anyone here know if / what-section-of FAR rules govern the operation of
"ground effect" vehicles? Specifically, how high can a machine fly AGL before
its technically classified as an aircraft and not a hovercraft,
hydroplane-boat, Ecronoplan, etc.? Is there a loophole for a powered...

"Bat" type wing tips ? by
R&R Sherwood
Several years ago bat type wing tips became popular with the racing group.
Does anyone have actual experience with the bat tip? Do they truly reduce
drag? Are there coordinates and dimensions available for them?

Dan,
Thanks for reply. I was at Sun 'n Fun today and after talking with the
"metal fab" guys, was giving up on a domed metal spinner (at least fabbed by

Nut/thread securing compound by

Eugene Wendland wrote...
Does anyone know what compound is used to secure the nuts and threads on
aviation engines?
Sounds like you're talking about inspection lacquer.
It's not really a securing compound, it just
chips and flakes if the material moves.
Wicks has it (www.wicksaircraft.com),...

I couldn't help but respond to the poster who made the statement that there was
no good alternative for ANN.COM, better know around here a
Aero-NUT-Network.com. WRONG! There is not only a good alternative but a far
better alternative as far as I am concerned.

Robin Williams World Peace Plan by
Fastglasair
This may very well be the best thought out item we have read since 9/11/01.
Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan ... what we need
now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.
I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan...

Engine Mount Tilt and Offset by
Barrie Gittens
I am planning to install a subaru (170HP) in my C-120 on floats.I
realize that the offset of the engine should be 3 to 4 degrees but the
tilt I am not so sure of. The extra thrust should cause a reduction
from the original 85 HP application; I should think. Any suggestions
out there.

Anybody tape entire "A plane is born" series? by
Bart D. Hull
I tried to tape the entire series when they held the
marathon weekend but it rained here and there is a bunch
of spots the satellite reception cut out.
I'd love a complete copy.
Thanks

I have a question I'm hoping you may be able to answer based on a

As part of an upgrade program in the Flight Simulation Lab here at the
University of Toronto, we purchased a new helmet mounted display system.
This helmet includes an...

Hi Folks,
I recently had a vision - in fact, it was the week of the Wright

Narco com 11A help please by
WhiteKnuckles
Hi All,
I bought the above radio on Ebay for the ultralight that I am building.
Anyway, I'm hoping that I didn't do anything dumb in choosing this older
radio. I didn't receive any pin out information from the guy that sold it to
me, and I'm assuming that he just plugged a newer set into the...
