Parasitic drag question by
Derek Anderson
We are currently test flying an all fiber-glass experimental plane in an
unpainted state and wondered if any of you have done the same and
experienced as much as a 10% increase in air speed and improved climb rate
after painting your planes.
I know most of you are happy to wait until your pride and...

Recovering fuselage by
Ed Haywood
The belly fabric on my Decathlon is in terrible shape. It is oil soaked to
the point where the paint and tapes are flaking off. Something has to be
done. Doubtful we can reskin just the belly, so we are considering a
recover of the entire fuselage.
Is it possible to recover a fuselage without...

Q for Jim Weir or others: solid state fuel level probes? by
Charlie England
Jim or anyone else who has 'been there',
Are circuit boards available for the capacitive fuel guages featured in
the year2000 Kitplanes articles?
Or (more desirable to me) is there an easily fabricated optical sensor
available for fuel level measurement?
Other options???

Lycoming O-290-D options by
Gene Z. Ragan
Hi,
I am in the process of restoring a Pazmany PL-1. It has an O-290-D
with about 1800 hours on it.
The original logs go back to 1951 and the engine has never been
overhauled. At some point in the
60s some top end work was done but the exact nature is not listed.
The engine technically has 200...

Warp drive or other ground adjustable props by
Wallace Berry
Hi, What kind of experience have any of you had with 2 blade Warp Drive
or other of the ground adjustable props on 65-100 hp Continentals? Any
issues with these props. My airplane is currently equipped with a
beautiful 72 inch wood prop, 40 inch pitch on a C-85. It climbs very
well with this setup....

Hi all,
I'm trying to put together some kind of plan to increase our EAA chapter
membership. To that end, I would like to pick everyone's brains for their
favorite big screen movie that involves airplanes, either main to the plot
or of any background significance. Examples would be like "Flying...

$3.00 a gallon gasoline by summer(read all of this, it just might work) by
Fastglasair
I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want gasoline
prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. This
makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the don`t buy gas on a certain day campaign that was
going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed...

Crashing Experimental on America's Funniest Home Videos by
Jay
Watching TV last night (4/7/04) ABC they had a "funny" home video of a
homebuilt experimental crashing. They ran a laugh track over this
guy's airplane breaking apart and skidding down the runway on a
botched landing. I'm sure the pilot wasn't laughing one bit.
But thats not the reason I'm...
