Naviter fails to provide registration key after SeeYou Mobile upgrade by
Daniel Jamin
I wanted to upgrade my SeeYou Mobile and was told by Naviter that the
new licencing system included both wSeeYou and SeeYou Mobile.
I received a lot of information about wSeeYou and other software I
don't need but I was not supplied with a registration key for my
upgraded SeeYou Mobile...

Radio acting up by
AS
I have a question for all the electronic wizards out there. My radio is only giving a carrier signal but no modulation. I have the following set-up:
Dittel FSG71M
Dittel speaker box F10061 with two DIN connectors for two microphones (only one used)
Dynamic goose neck microphone F10039
I tried both...

Closest airfield to NYC to fly gliders or to keep a SLMG by
albs
I live in Europe and will be relocating to New York City next spring. Which would be the closest airfield where I could keep a SLMG (doesn't necessarily need to be a glider club) or the closets airfield where gliders are operated (which and/or tow)? Any that you'd recommend in particular?
thank you

Ping Buddy ADS-B Receiver and GDL 90/XC Soar Question by
[email protected]
Does anyone have experience with this device? If so please comment.
http://www.uavionix.com/products/pingbuddy/
Also has anyone been successful with getting XC Soar to accept a GDL 90 protocol so that one can use such a device whilst running XC Soar? This would eliminate the need to run a EFB and...

Uuuuummm.
It might be helpful to know from whence the 2-33 will originate, on it's
way to a new home...

Johnny Byrd (was: 30 Gone) by
[email protected]
I thoughtlessly posted my earlier message (below) a few minutes ago with a somewhat obscure subject, not realizing that "30"--a contest number that for many of us evoked only one pilot's name--had been reassigned. Apologies to anyone who was inadvertently...

New Zealand soaring movie by
[email protected]
Long time ago I saw a neat movie about a father and daughter(?) learning to soar in New Zealand. Great scenery. Remind me the name of the movie?
Also, if my 14 YO son gets instruction and solos in New Zealand does the flight time and solo endorsement from a Kiwi certified flight instructor count...

ASW 19 tail wheel by
[email protected]
I have now destroyed two of those silly rubber tail skid/wheel things on my ASW-19. It's a black rubber skid shaped device that has a roller blade wheel molded into it. It looks cool. But if you push it sideways too many times the wheel gets ripped out of the skid. Or if you fly out of a...

Displaying ADS-B UAT Traffic on PowerFlarm by
WaltWX[_2_]
I agree with Darryl Ramm's assessment that a PowerFlarm and Mode S transponder (Trig T22 in my case) in my glider is the best solution for collision awareness and "good aviation citizenship" with other powered traffic. That's what I have in my glider.
However, monitoring ADS-B UAT (978Mhz)...

30 Gone by
[email protected]
I've been waiting for an "official" note. But absent that, I'm saddened to pass long the news that we lost another one a week or so back: Johnny Byrd, "30", left us after a long illness.
I wish I could recount the contest wins, the stories, the good times so many of us shared around the country...

Grob 103 ASI Very Sensitive in Yaw? by

I was checking someone out yesterday in a Grob 103 and we were experimenting with various things including yaw sensitivity. We noticed that the ASI is completely useless with anything more than about 10 degrees of yaw. Like, it goes to almost zero and flutters around. Given how poor Grob...

Weather Balloon by
Dan Marotta
Yesterday we noticed a weather balloon which appeared to be fully
expanded slightly to the east of Moriarty. It appeared to move slightly
to the west as the day wore on and, when I landed at 5:30, it was
perhaps 20 to the west of Moriarty. Winds up to about 16,000' MSL were
out of the west at...
