Advice on air magazines? by
Jdf4cheval
My subscriptions are coming due on some of my aviation periodicals. Any
recommendations for journals to keep current on world military aviation? I'll
keep AWST, but find the UK magazines fairly expensive for
the amount of information they provide - and I don't need endless lists of
serial numbers.

P-39's, zeros, etc. by
old hoodoo
I am glad someone is doing some research in this area as early operations
have long been ignored. I think the contribution of P-39's in holding the
line early in the war has long been ignored. I am not sure what you want
with your question. Obviously the reports are taken from different points
of...

Nellis on the Blocks (The upcoming 2005 Base Realignment And Closure) by
CFA3
I recently read a report about the next round of base closures, and
was quite surprized to see NELLIS AFB on the list. In many ways I can
see it, in that it is nearly completely encroached upon by Vegas
growth and the size, being relatively small. Currently, there are
issues of security, as well,...

The prone postion for tail gunners versus turrets. by
The Enlightenment
American and British aircraft were known for their use of power driven
tail turrets. In the case of British aircraft the aircraft was
designed around the turret. (It must have been effective: British
bombers showed no loss in performance compared to more sexy looking
yank aircraft which seemed...
