woodstock 1/thor duster bj1/briegleb bg12/miller tern plansconstruction by
cba25glider
I am writing to ask you about the woodstock , duster or briegleb
plans.
My name is Gustavo Balocco from Argentina. I am a
gliding pilot and an instructor gliding. I am
interested in making my own glider but I could not
find an available page on the net where I can buy the plans of those
gliders. I...

Land Out Procedure by
Mike McCarron[_2_]
It was mentioned during a talk Kai Gertsen gave at the Region 1 contest
this year that it is a good idea to call 911 if you land your glider
within sight of a road or other humans. The problem has been in the past
that many times the glider outlanding is called in to the authorities as
an airplane...

The ravages of time? by
noel.wade
OK All,
So I've been 'round and 'round trying to figure out the right glider
to buy (all year). I'm sure you all are getting tired of me by now! :-
P
But I have a related question for you (for once that does not involve
a "Which glider is better" question):
How detrimental to performance are...

Transponder Praise by
jcarlyle
On July 2 (a day with blue skies, a few scattered CUs and typical east
coast haze) a friend and I were thermalling our ASW-20 and ASW-19
sailplanes at 6,000 feet 3 miles SE of Blairstown, NJ (a clearly
marked glider port some 40 miles from Newark Airport and Teterboro
Airport). My Zaon MRX alerted...

DG-600 questions by
Dan[_6_]
Recently a set of DG-600 wings have shown up for sale. They are
damaged but don't apear to be beyond repair. I'm considering using a
these wings for an experiment I've been toying with for some time. .
I've never seen a DG-600 in person so I could use some help with a few
basic questions.
What...

Cover it if 302 needle does not zero at power up. by
MaKoRide
Cover up the face.
The Cambridge 302 vario needle can fail to zero correctly at power up.
The instrument uses a light source and photo sensor to find the zero
position. If bright light overpowers the light source then the needle
can fail to position properly. Sometimes it goes around in circles...

SPOT Versus ELT Analysis (Long) by
ContestID67
All,
Some of the recent RAS articles about SPOT got me thinking that this
is a nice device with some important safety features. I decided to do
a quick and dirty analysis of the benefits of the SPOT device versus
the various ELT/PLB devices. Both basically fulfill the same
function, which is to...

Tom Knauff's newsletter by
[email protected]
Has anyone read this? What is your opinion? Tom Knauff certainly
doesn't provide any facts to support his conclusions. The following
statement in particular should anger each glider pilot, CFIG and
examiner: "The point of this is the demonstrable fact that most glider
pilots do not have the...

SSA website Intrusion Attack by
Wayne Paul
This morning I started getting a Norton intrusion attack warning when
attempting to open the SSA website. Norton stated it was a "High Risk"
problem associated with a script called from W32.9966.org.
The SSA website's source code does indeed have a W32.9966.org script call.
A Google search...

BNC installation by
JJ Sinclair
I'm about ready to splice on a good fin & boom to a badly broken
Puchacz fuselage. Made a clean cut 56" aft of the aft lift fittings,
glued in a sleeve, jigged up the two pieces (both sides straight, top
& bottom straight, fin vertical, lift fittings horizontal), spliced
the push-rod, hooked up the...

Mitch
The Albuquerque Soaring Club is in need of two of the forward weights
for our G-103. The new empty weight in the front seat of our Grob is
up to 170 lbs. and we need to ensure our lighter pilots are not
required to wear divers weight belts along with numerious bags of lead
shot in order to remain...

Changes to USA Nationals System by
Tim Taylor
It is time for a major overhaul of the US Nationals system. With time
constraints and cost it is making the single national approach
outdated. We have discussed the idea of super regionals or multiple
nationals. I think it is time to seriously look at these
alternatives. We have to recognize...
