Coming back from Canada by Doug
I just flew back from Canada. As required, I filed a Canadian flight plan and contacted US Customs (I cleared Customs at Sault St. Marie, Michigan). No one said anything about me having to close my flight plan with USA flight service (and come to think of it, I never have closed the other times...

Loreto PIREP by Robert M. Gary
Flew down to Loreto, MX yesterday. Immigration made me buy visas for the boys this time (age 9, 10) but otherwise business as usual. Got my annual permit w/o hassle. Airport commander was confused by my 2.5 year old class 2 medical but finally either understood the rules or just decided to agree...

The big deal of Rutan's "almost-space" flight by Teacherjh
Ok, Rutan's craft went close to space. I won't argue about where "space" begins, but it's high up there, and Rutan (by which I mean his craft) is also high up there. What's the big deal? Here are my thoughts. While it's true that the basic accomplishment of this flight (suborbital, "close to...

The "New" Bendix/King by Marco Leon
Anyone have anything to share (rumors, non-public info, or predictions) on what the "new" Bendix King will be? For those who are not aware, they have a full page ad in AOPA Pilot (June 2007 issue) on page 63 on this announcement scheduled for Oshkosh. IMO, they have a whole lot of catching up...

AvWeb has sent out an announcement following the crash of one of two flying prototype Grob SPn jets the company is developing. The crash occurred during a flight demonstration for invited guests. As always, it's always too early to speculate.

Joyriding dope gets another year to chill by Kingfish
Read this on AvWeb yesterday: A young man who according to his sentencing judge loaded two young friends aboard a Cessna 172 in Danbury, Conn., and flew it for three hours before landing almost out of fuel and "drunk" at Westchester, N.Y., will have another year in jail to think about that...

consensual pedophilia is ok by free speech is tough, huh?
Pedophiles are the new scapegoats, just as Jews were in the past. Pedo philes are innocent if they have not used force, deception, intimidation, or drugs, and if their acts have been consentual. Even then, the death penalty would be wrong. The pedophilia scare is a fake. It is not harmful. That...
